  1. If you were poor, and had to become an indentured servant or slave to work off your debts, your redeemer-relative (brother, cousin, uncle, family kin) may redeem you. Dt 15:12-17

 
  1. If you became poor and had to sell your land to pay your debts, the redeemer-relative was to buy back the land so you wouldn’t lose your inheritance in the promised land. Lev 25:23-25
